Among economically weaker sections, difficult choices often shape a child’s future. When parents can afford to send only one child to a private school, preference is often given to boys. As a result, girls are left with no option but to attend government primary schools. Although teachers in these schools are qualified and adequately paid, the overall learning environment suffers due to serious infrastructure gaps, including broken boundary walls, non-functional toilets, lack of safe drinking water, damaged classroom floors, improper grounds, faulty electrical fittings, poor blackboards, and absence of modern multimedia learning tools. Recognizing these challenges, Guru Devi Social & Welfare Trust has adopted a focused approach to transform government primary schools by improving infrastructure, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and providing better educational resources, with the aim of ensuring that every child receives quality education regardless of their socio-economic background.
